On the evening of February 4, Thailand announced that starting at 9:00 AM local time on February 5, it would cut off internet, electricity, and fuel supply to the Myanmar region along the Thai-Myanmar border. The Thai Electricity Authority has been supplying power to five regions in Myanmar, including Myawaddy.
Myawaddy, located on the Myanmar side of the Thai-Myanmar border, has become a major hub for telecom fraud in recent years. Last month, Chinese actor Wang Xing was trafficked from Thailand to Myawaddy but was later rescued through joint efforts by Chinese and Thai police.
It is reported that, at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin will pay an official visit to China from February 5 to 8.
